Admission Requirements
The minimum requirements for admission to graduate study at UCLA are:
- A bachelor’s degree
- A GPA of 3.0 in the last two years of undergraduate coursework
- TOEFL/IELTS scores that meet or exceed the minimum (required for international applicants only)
Technical Skills
MS Data Science in Biomedicine requires the evidence of strong technical ability which can be demonstrated either by:
- A degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or the equivalent with coursework in programming
- Outstanding letters of recommendation addressing your work experience in the area with details about technical ability
Evaluation Criteria
The Admissions Subcommittee generally evaluates applicants based on the applicant’s program:
- Coursework in courses related to the chosen area of study
- Work experience in relation to the chosen area of study
- Statement of Purpose
- Recommendations
Decision Notification
While MS Data Science in Biomedicine may send a courtesy email with a recommendation of admission, only official notification from the Dean of the UCLA Division of Graduate Education constitutes approval of admission. When a decision is made, applicants will receive an email directing them to the Division of Graduate Education’s application site to check their “Decision Status.” Applicants will sign in to their account to read the official decision letter. If admitted, the letter will describe the conditions of admission and include information and instructions concerning registration (via a link to the Statement of Intent to Register – SIR). The applicant can print the letter from the Division of Graduate Education site if desired. Admission letters are not mailed to applicants.
